Higbee Beach

Higbee Beach is a famous birding spot and an infamous beach for some other activities. For the past few years, the parking lots have been closed from Memorial Day to Labor Day to reduce the pressure from this wildlife area. The beach is reached via New England road which parallels the south side of the Cape May Canal. As the pictures below indicate, Higbee Beach is at the end of the road.

The beach is reached through an area of wild dunes which provide some excellent birding, especially during the fall migration. The left picture below shows the beauty of the beach. The center picture shows the concrete ship off of Sunset Beach in the distance. The right picture shows anglers on the Cape May Canal jetty at the northern end of Higbee Beach.
